history

The Autoomnibus-Gesellschaft mbH Zwickau opened the bus routes Zwickau  - Planitz and Zwickau - Reinsdorf  - Wildenfels on October 18, 1912 . This laid the foundation for regional transport in the Zwickau region. On December 23, 1919 the Freistaat Sachsen (KVG) was founded in Dresden, which took over the existing bus operation in Zwickau on January 1, 1920 as "Kraftverkehrsgesellschaft Freistaat Sachsen (KVG) GmbH, Headquarters Dresden, Operations Management Zwickau". The site on Crimmitschauer Strasse in Zwickau has been used as the company's headquarters since September 15, 1923. Between May 1925 and March 1930, the lines to Oelsnitz , Hartenstein , Rothenkirchen , Lengenfeld , Friedrichsgrün , Glauchau , Reichenbach , Aue , Chemnitz , Leipzig and Annaberg were set up. Almost the entire area around Zwickau was included in public transport. The line length was now 375 km.

After the Second World War , the Zwickau - Planitz and Zwickau - Friedrichsgrün lines were reopened with wood-gas powered buses on May 20, 1945 . On January 1, 1949, the VVB Land Sachsen Kraftverkehr was founded as a state-owned motor transport association of 23 Saxon motor transport companies. In 1951 the first new LOWA buses from Werdau were put into operation. The VVB Land Sachsen was dissolved again on July 1, 1952 and the administration of state-owned motor transport and repair companies (VVK) was established at the district level . On January 1, 1954, the District Directorate for Motor Transport (BDK) was founded. In 1955 the Ikarus buses from Hungary were put into operation. New mechanical ticket printers of the type Setright were installed in the vehicles in 1966.

The VEB haulage Glauchau and the VEB road Zwickau joined forces on January 1, 1970th On July 1, 1970, the Karl-Marx-Stadt Kraftverkehrskombinat was formed, to which VEB Kraftverkehr Zwickau now also belonged. The passenger transport division of VEB Kraftverkehr Zwickau operated 99 bus routes with a line length of 1930 kilometers in the Zwickau , Glauchau , Werdau , Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Stollberg districts between 1983 and 1989 . 320 buses were used for this.

On June 15, 1990 VEB Kraftverkehr Zwickau was taken over into the trust assets and Kraftverkehr GmbH Zwickau was formed. The Zwickau transport association was constituted on November 5, 1991. On October 1, 1991, the passenger transport division was spun off as an independent subsidiary of Kraftomnibus-Verkehrsgesellschaft Zwickau (KOV).
