Upper village of Giegengrün

Giegengrün is a district of the municipality Hartmannsdorf near Kirchberg in the district of Zwickau , Saxony , Germany . About 100 people live in the village.

location

Giegengrün is located south of the town of Kirchberg in the Kirchberg granite area on the northwestern edge of the Ore Mountains . Connecting roads lead through the village to Bärenwalde and Obercrinitz . Characteristic of the place are 24 ponds on the village corridor. In the vicinity of the village is the 507 m high Giegenstein , which was used as a quarry until 1920. Today the mining area is filled with water and is used for sports.

history

In 1606 Giegengrün belonged to the Zwickau office and from 1764 to the Wiesenburg office , which in 1843 was renamed "Kirchberg office". In 1856 the place came to the Kirchberg judicial office and since 1875 it belonged to the Zwickau administration , the successor of which was the Zwickau district. In 1972 Giegengrün was incorporated into Leutersbach . After its incorporation in Kirchberg in 1996, Giegengrün came to Hartmannsdorf.
