from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Amt Wiesenburg (formerly Herrschaft Wiesenburg) was a territorial administrative unit of the Electorate of Saxony, which was converted into a kingdom in 1806, in the Erzgebirge district .

Until the end of the Saxon constitution of offices in 1856, it was the spatial reference point for the demand for sovereign taxes and compulsory services , for the police , jurisdiction and army successes .

geography

The rule was located south of the city of Zwickau and extended southwards along the valleys of the Rödelbach and the Zwickauer Mulde to the Hartmannsdorfer Forest on the edge of the upper Western Ore Mountains . The stately center of the Office Wiesenburg was the first time in 1251 mentioned Wiesenburg in Wiesenburg . The ecclesiastical center of the lower rule in the Rödelbachtal was Kirchberg . For the upper lordship around Griesbach, Lindenau, Neustädtel / Scheibe and Zschorlau, Griesbach and from 1413 Neustädtel were parochial locations. In addition to numerous communities, the Hartmannsdorfer Forest, also called Wiesenburger Forest, belonged to the Wiesenburg officials as a manorial property after 1600.

history

The rule Wiesenburg was a territory in the Saxon Ore Mountains that arose in the middle of the 12th century . From its foundation in 1157 to 1394/98, the area was owned by the Reussians of Greiz , and thus belonged to the governors. After that it belonged to the Margrave of Meissen . By lending it to the nobles von der Planitz in 1405, it was associated with the Zwickau office . After the division of Leipzig in 1485, the rule belonged to the Ernestine line of the Wettins . Since the defeat of the Ernestines in the Schmalkaldic War , it came into possession of the Albertines like the Zwickau office in 1547 . From 1591 the rule was subordinate to the council of the city of Zwickau before it was re-established as an electoral office in 1618 . From 1663 to 1724 the office of Wiesenburg was lent to the dukes of Holstein-Sonderburg . In 1843 the Kirchberg Office was formed from the territory and the northern part of the Schwarzenberg Office . After the end of the Saxon constitution of offices in 1856, the Kirchberg court office was formed from the Wiesenburg locations of the Kirchberg office. The places Lindenau and Zschorlau came like the other places around Schneeberg to the court office Schneeberg .

Origin of name

One source states that Wiesenburg Castle was originally called "Weißenberg", as a counterpart to the Schwarzenberg lordship with the castle of the same name. It was probably even the starting point of the Schwarzenberg rule.
