The village lies at the foot of the Ore Mountains , on the northwestern edge of the Kirchberg granite stock at an altitude of between 310 and 360 m. The eponymous Crinitzer Wasser , a side stream of the Rödelbach , which flows into the Zwickauer Mulde, flows through the village .

Neighboring communities

Before the regional reforms, the neighboring communities were Rottmannsdorf and Culitzsch in the north, Cunersdorf in the west , Kirchberg, Wolfersgrün and Hirschfeld in the south and Ebersbrunn in the east .

history

The Waldhufendorf Niedercrinitz was founded around 1300 and belonged to the Zwickau office from 1606 and later partly to the Zwickau office and the Wiesenburg office , which was renamed the Kirchberg office in 1843. In 1856 the place came to the Kirchberg judicial office and since 1875 it belonged to the Zwickau administration , the successor of which was the Zwickau district.

In the 1940s, plans were made to damm the Crinitzbach above the Quarksteine to form a dam to improve the drinking water supply in the Zwickau area. But the only thing that came about was the construction of the Wolfersgrün dam in Wolfersgrün.

On January 1, 1998 Niedercrinitz was incorporated into the Hirschfeld community.

Origin of name

Niedercrinitz takes its name from the Crinitzbach flowing through the village. That the place was probably already inhabited by Slavs can be interpreted from the word Crinitz , which is derived from the Czech word Krivnica / Krivnice (in German: Krummbach or Quellbach). The name is also associated with the slang word Krinitz for the crossbill (e.g. in the seal of Obercrinitz ).

Religions

The parish Niedercrinitz and the neighboring town of Culitzsch belong to the Evangelical-Lutheran Michaelis parish of Wilkau-Haßlau .
