history
The forest hoof village Rottmannsdorf was first mentioned in 1421 as Ruczmerstorff . In contrast , Altrottmannsdorf near Schönfels , a few kilometers to the west, was first mentioned in a document in 1441 as "Roczmanstorff". From the 16th century, the name Wendischrottmannsdorf or Wendisch Rottmannsdorf is used for today's Rottmannsdorf . During the Thirty Years War (1618 to 1648) the place was almost completely devastated. The manorial rule over Wendischrottmannsdorf was with the manor Planitz until the 19th century . The fortified church of the village dates from the 12th century and is a sister church of Planitz .
Wendischrottmannsdorf belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau in the Erzgebirge district until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated to the Zwickau court office and in 1875 to the Zwickau administrative authority . On June 1, 1924 the volunteer fire brigade (Wendisch-) Rottmannsdorf was founded. As part of the National Socialist Germanization of Sorbian place names, Wendischrottmannsdorf was renamed Rottmannsdorf on November 1, 1937.
As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Rottmannsdorf became part of the Zwickau-Land district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Zwickau from 1990 and in 1994 in the Zwickauer Land district rose.
On April 1, 1996, Rottmannsdorf was incorporated into the independent city of Zwickau. Since 2008, Rottmannsdorf has been part of the Zwickau district as a district of Zwickau.
