Planitz is the name of an old Vogtland noble family with the same parent house on the Planitzbach in the Zwickau district of Planitz . A Ludewicus de Plaunizc was first mentioned in a document on December 8, 1192 in Merseburg . The direct stem row begins with this .

The place Planitz with the castle built around 1150 was in the 12th and 13th centuries in the possession of the Bailiffs von Weida , who enfeoffed the Lords of Planitz with it.
