Karl Ferdinand Horst Edler von der Planitz (born June 28, 1893 in Berlin , † May 7, 1945 in Troppau ( Sudetenland )) was a Prussian administrative lawyer and district president .

Life

He came from the extensive Vogtland noble family von der Planitz and was the son of the first marriage of the royal Saxon general of the infantry Karl Eugen Horst Edler von der Planitz and Marga von Koppenfels, daughter of the royal Saxon district court president Ferdinand von Koppenfels. Karl Ferdinand studied law and did military service during the First World War. In 1920 he became a court trainee and in 1923 a Saxon court assessor at the state tax office in Dresden . From 1924 he worked in the main customs office in Neustadt in Upper Silesiawhere he was promoted to government assessor and later to government councilor. Then he worked from 1925 at the state tax office in Kiel , from 1928 at the main customs office in Annaberg and from 1930 at the main customs office in Hanover .

At the beginning of September 1932 von der Planitz joined the NSDAP . From April 6, 1933, he temporarily administered the Clausthal-Zellerfeld district office . From August 1933 to 1936 he was District Administrator of the district Zellerfeld . In the meantime he managed the district office in Schweidnitz in 1935 . From September 1936 to 1938 he was district administrator for the district of Schweidnitz .

In 1939 he became president of the district of Stettin . From there he was transferred to the Troppau administrative district in the Sudetenland in 1944, where he also held the position of regional government president. On May 7, 1945 he was killed together with part of his family in the combat area around Opava. Karl Ferdinand had been married to Lotte Körner (1899–1945), Paul Körner's sister, since December 5, 1920 . He had 3 children: Marga Lotte (1922–2014), Karl Hans Christoph (1925–1944) and Karl Hermann Horst (1935–1945). The youngest son died together with his parents on May 7, 1945 in the Troppau combat area.
