Ernst Alfons Edler von der Planitz (born March 3, 1857 in Norwich , † January 24, 1935 in Berlin -Kaulsdorf) was a German - American writer .

Life

He was born in the USA as the son of Moritz Karl Max Edler von der Planitz (1823-1857) and Karoline von Pachner (1821-1883).

Von der Planitz was seen as an opponent of naturalism and instead called for an idealistic realism . On June 20, 1881, in Biberach, he married Helene Freiin Seutter von Lötzen, the daughter of Baron Albrecht Seutter von Lötzen. That marriage ended in divorce in 1883. On May 28, 1895, he married the daughter of the royal Bavarian captain Georg Freiherr Zündt von Kentzingen, Adolphine Freiin Zündt von Kentzingen, his second wife. From this marriage, Ernst Baldur Moritz (1897–1927) had a son.

Around 1907 he had a Goethe-style country house built in Kaulsdorf , in which he lived - presumably until his death. He is buried in the Kaulsdorf cemetery.

Meteorology was one of his hobbies . As a writer, he created over 50 works in the course of his life.
