from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arwed Edler von der Planitz , shortened to Arwed von der Planitz , (born June 21, 1875 in Oschatz , † 1943 in Dresden ) was a Saxon officer from the noble family of those von der Planitz .

Life

Von der Planitz came from the Rützengrüner line of the von der Planitz and was the son of Georg Edler von der Planitz (1843–1902). Traditionally, members of this line were Saxon forestry and administrative officials or officers, in the tradition of a ministerial family . Arwed von der Planitz also remained true to this tradition as a lawyer and administrative officer . He was also a reserve officer. He lived in Dresden, where he lived at Christianstrasse 31.

Von der Planitz was captain of the reserve in the Saxon guard regiment . From the beginning of the First World War he served on the Western Front , in front of Verdun and near Ypres . Eventually he was assigned to Division IIIb of the German Deputy General Staff .

A “tactful officer with political understanding” was wanted for Lenin's trip from Switzerland to Russia. The choice of Ludendorff fell on von der Planitz, who took over this and later another transport of emigrants in Gottmadingen and accompanied them to Saßnitz .

After the war he became a Councilor back to Dresden. Von der Planitz died childless in 1943. With that the Rützengrüner line of those from the Planitz became extinct.
