Johann Doläus

Johann Doläus (also Johannes Doläus , born September 7, 1651 in Hofgeismar , † September 12, 1707 in Kassel ) was a German physician and personal physician to the Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel.

Life

Johann Doläus attended grammar school in Frankenthal and studied from 1669 at the University of Heidelberg , 1670 in Sedan and with Guy Patin in Paris and in 1671 with Thomas Sydenham in London and also in Oxford medicine. In 1673 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg . He then became Physicus in Limburg an der Lahn and worked as the ducal Nassau court doctor and personal physician to Princess Albertine of Nassau . In 1682 he moved to Hanau, became counselor and personal physician to the Landgrave of Hessen-Cassel and worked as a professor at the Hanau Lyceum. He was a close friend of the doctor and professor of medicine and physics at the University of Marburg, Johann Jakob Waldschmidt , with whom he researched medicines.

On June 15, 1680, Johann Doläus with the academic surname Andromachus was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 91 ) in the Leopoldina .
