Johann Jakob Waldschmidt

Johann Jakob Waldschmidt (also Johannes Jacob Waldschmidt , born January 13, 1644 in Rodheim ; † August 12, 1689 in Marburg ) was a Hessian physician and professor of medicine and physics at the University of Marburg .

Life

Johann Jakob Waldschmidt was a son of the Rodheim preacher Conrad Waldschmidt and studied medicine at the universities of Prague, Vienna and Giessen, among others. In 1667 he received his doctorate in Giessen and then settled in Hanau as a doctor. In 1674 he accepted the call as a full professor of medicine and physics at the University of Marburg . In 1677, 1679, 1684 and 1686 he was dean of the medical faculty and in 1677, 1685 and 1686 rector of the University of Marburg. He was close friends with the physician and personal physician of the Landgrave of Hessen-Cassel Johann Doläus , with whom he researched medicines.

On January 25, 1678 Johann Jakob Waldschmidt was registered under the registration number. 75 accepted as a member of the Leopoldina with the academic surname Priamus .

The physician Wilhelm Hulderich Waldschmidt was his son.
