Bernhard von der Planitz

Bernhard Edler von der Planitz (born January 7, 1828 in Naundorf (Saxony) , † November 23, 1907 ibid) was a German politician in the Kingdom of Saxony.

Life

Planitz was a son of Ferdinand Edlem von der Planitz (1796-1854) and Eleonore Wilhelmine born. von Bodenhausen (1801–1888). From 1842 to 1847 he attended the Princely School of St. Afra . On June 23, 1846, in a forbidden duel in the woods of Dresden , he injured Erwin von Quandt, son of the art historian Johann Gottlob von Quandt , who had publicly insulted him. For this reason, on May 27, 1847, von der Planitz, after a judicial investigation, was imprisoned for one and a half years, as did Quandt, who was found guilty as a recidivist agitator.

He studied at the University of Leipzig and was active in the Corps Misnia Leipzig in 1848 . He was chamberlain and owner of the Naundorf manor . By royal appointment he moved on November 4, 1867 as the successor to Ludwig Freiherrn von Beschwitz as a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament . He belonged to it for over 30 years, until the end of the state parliament in 1899/1900. In September 1869 he married Countess Karoline von Kameke (1852–1928) with whom he had three sons. He was Canon of Meissen.
