Heinrich Ernst von der Planitz

Heinrich Ernst Edler von der Planitz (* 1723 in Seedorf , Crossen district, † December 15, 1793 in Prenzlau ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the infantry regiment "von Kleist" .

Life

Military career

Planitz visited the cadet house in Berlin from July 1, 1739 and on November 23, 1741 was employed as a non-commissioned officer in the infantry regiment "von Selchow" of the Prussian army . During the Second Silesian War he took part in the battles of Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf as well as in the siege of Prague and the battle near Habelschwerdt . On March 16, 1746, Planitz became an ensign in the regiment, on February 28, 1759, second lieutenant and on November 19, 1756, first lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War he was promoted to staff captain on September 5, 1759 .

After the war he became a captain and company commander on March 2, 1762, and then a major on February 9, 1778 . Planitz took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 and became battalion commander on March 25, 1778. On May 27, 1787 he rose to lieutenant colonel and on May 28, 1789 to colonel and on March 25, 1790 to regimental commander. On October 22, 1792 he received the order Pour le Mérite for his services . On January 18, 1793, he received his resignation as major general with a pension of 800 thalers. He died on December 15, 1793 in Prenzlau in the Uckermark and was buried on December 18, 1793.

Planitz married Marie Dorothea Tiede on August 19, 1786 in Prenzlau (* July 14, 1721; † July 16, 1802). The couple had the following children:

  • Karl Gottlieb Heinrich (* 1762; † February 4, 1826 in Gollmitz), Rittmeister a. D.
  • Friedrich Ernst (born July 3, 1766 - † November 3, 1820), Chief of Staff of the 1st Disabled Company
