history

The communities of Grispach ( Griesbach ), Lindenawe (Lindenau), Scheibe (later Neustädtel ) and Zschorlau were founded as Waldhufendörfer by Franconian farmers in the 12th century. Lindenau was first mentioned in a document in 1192. Until 1413 the place belonged to the parish in Griesbach, then to Neustädtel. At the end of the 15th century, 13 treasure trove were created in the course of the Schneeberger Berggeschreys on Lindenau's corridor.

Lindenau belonged to the rule Wiesenburg and its successor, the Amt Wiesenburg , until the 19th century . In 1843 the place came to the Kirchberg office and in 1856 to the Schneeberg court office. In 1875 it was incorporated into the Schwarzenberg administration . In the summer of 1945, Lindenau, like the entire Schwarzenberg district, was unoccupied for 6 weeks (see Free Republic of Schwarzenberg ).

From 1951 to 1958 Lindenau was a district within the city district of Schneeberg. Thereafter, the place belonged to the Aue district , from 1994 to the Aue-Schwarzenberg district and since 2008 to the Erzgebirgskreis . Since 1999 the community has been part of the mountain town of Schneeberg with its own local council.

Religions

From the founding of Lindenau at the end of the 12th century until 1413, Lindenau was part of the then Catholic parish in Griesbach. Since 1413 the place belongs to the parish in Neustädtel and has been Evangelical-Lutheran since the Reformation. Protestant church services take place every third Sunday of the month in the house of the regional church community in Lindenau. The parish of Neustädtel belongs to the Ephorie Aue of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony.

The regional church community Lindenau emerged in the 1920s from several biblical circles. The community house "Gottesgabe" was built around 1946 and is the only church building in town. The community hour takes place every Sunday.

The Evangelical Methodist Church was based in the village from 1939 to 1957.
