Burkersdorf has been part of the city of Kirchberg since 1973 .
Geographical location
Burkersdorf is located in the Ore Mountains at an altitude between 400 and 450 m above sea level on a steep slope between the Hartmannsdorfer Forest and the Rödelbachtal in Kirchberg.
history
The place was founded as a Waldhufendorf in the 13th century and belonged to the Wiesenburg office until 1843 and then to the Kirchberg office. In 1856 Burkersdorf came to the Kirchberg court office and in 1875 to the Zwickau administration , the successor of which is the Zwickau district . 1973 Burkersdorf was incorporated into Kirchberg.
Origin of name
The name of the place is traced back to the "village of a Burkard".
Public facilities
The Kirchberg district hospital opened in 1996 with its new building in the upper part of the village near the Hohe Forst.
religion
The Evangelical Lutheran St. Katharinenkirche Burkersdorf is the sister community of the Church of St. Margarethen in Kirchberg. It was built in the 13th century and renovated in 1679. In it is the oldest still ringing bell in Saxony, which is said to be around 700 years old.
brewery
The Heckel brewery, founded in 1867, was located in Burkersdorf. In 2009 the brewery buildings were demolished.
