Lothar Wendler

Lothar Wendler (born April 12, 1927 in Wildbach ; † February 13, 2016 in Aue (Saxony) ) was a German local politician (SED) and homeland researcher.

Life

Lothar Wendler was the son of Alfred Erich Wendler (1903–1942) and Marie Wally geb. Jähn (1908-1980). Wendler was mayor of the mountain town of Schneeberg in the Ore Mountains from November 1958 to April 1972 . As such, he is one of the initiators of the Schneeberger Lichtlfest and gave the speech for the 500th anniversary of Schneeberg in 1971.

As a pensioner, he was increasingly concerned with regional and home history and presented several publications on this topic.
