history

The office of Schlettau was originally a Bohemian rule of the Schönburger and was under the sovereignty of the Bohemian king. In 1351 Friedrich and Bernhard von Schönburg- Hassenstein (Hasištejn), Preßnitz and Schlettau received the place Schlettau as a fief. In 1413 the Schlettau care company came to the Grünhain Abbey in an exchange deal . Since the division of Leipzig in 1485, it and the Grünhainischen possessions belonged to the Ernestine line of the Wettins. The Schlettau office was established in 1536 after the dissolution of the Grünhain monastery (introduction of the Reformation ) and shortly thereafter merged with the Grünhain office . The area had been Albertine since 1547 . The Grünhain office existed until 1856 as part of the Ore Mountains District . Then the core area around Grünhain came to the Schwarzenberg administration and the Schlettau sub- office to the Annaberg administration .
