The Freiberger Railroad Company, Inc. is a railway company based in Freiberg , Saxony . The shareholders are the company Rhenus Veniro GmbH & Co. KG (until 2007: Rhenus Keolis GmbH & Co. KG ), REGIOBUS Mittelachsen GmbH and four other bus companies active in regional regular services.
history
The Freiberg railway company was founded on June 7, 2000. Since November 25, 2000 it has been traveling on the 31 km long “ Freiberg Mulde Valley Railway ” (part of the Nossen – Moldava v Krušných horách railway ) in the Freiberg Mulde valley on behalf of the Central Saxony Transport Association . The route runs from Freiberg (Sachs) station on the Dresden – Werdau railway line to Holzhau in the Eastern Ore Mountains .
The FEG trains essentially run every hour on weekdays, and usually every two hours on weekends and public holidays, as well as during school holidays. Until the winter of 2006/07, the City-Bahn Chemnitz and the Freiberg Railway offered winter sports trains from Chemnitz to Holzhau. The trains were no longer offered in the winter of 2007/08 due to a lack of demand.
The contract, which expired in December 2019, was extended to 2024 by direct award. A continuous hourly service is to be offered by closing the previous gaps .
Freiberger Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH is a member of the tariff association of federal and non-federal railways in Germany .
vehicles
In 2000, the FEG acquired three Regioshuttle RS1 diesel multiple units from Adtranz , with which it still handles all traffic. The vehicles are painted light gray, traffic blue and melon yellow in the FEG corporate design . From 2008 they received a new, changed color scheme.
