The City-Bahn Chemnitz GmbH is a company founded on 10 March 1997 municipal railway companies .
The company is a member of the tariff association of federal and non-federal railways in Germany (TBNE).
As a railway infrastructure company , it also operates the Stollberg – Chemnitz Zwönitzbrücke section of the Zwönitz – Chemnitz Süd railway line and the first 1.375 kilometers of the Stollberg – St. Egidien .
Lines and vehicles
City-Bahn Chemnitz operates several local transport lines in the Chemnitz area on behalf of the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Mittelachsen .
The Chemnitz - Stollberg regional light rail (KBS 522) was the pilot route for the Chemnitz model . It was and is served every half hour on weekdays by electric light rail vehicles.
On the three conventional regional rail -lines came up in December 2015 railcar of the type Regio-Shuttle RS1 is used. The following lines ran every hour on weekdays (every two hours on weekends, with the exception of KBS 525, which was usually served every hour with morning departures):
- Chemnitz - Burgstädt ( KBS 525 )
- Stollberg - St. Egidien - Glauchau ( single train pairs to Glauchau on weekdays ) ( KBS 523 )
- Chemnitz - Hainichen ( KBS 516 )
The City-Bahn Chemnitz is also responsible for the express bus route 526 Chemnitz - Limbach-Oberfrohna . Here, too, every hour on weekdays, and every two hours on Sundays.
The timetable change in 2015 the use of new had two power railcars of type Vossloh Citylink to Burgstädt, Mittweida Hainichen and during the commissioning of the Stage 1 plan of the Chemnitz model. The late BOStrab approval of the Citylink wagons delayed the start of wagons in the tram network until October 2016. At the same time, the following changes came into force with the new concept:
- the City-Bahn runs under the Chemnitz Bahn brand
- line 522 became the C11 - Mon – Sat: every half hour (deviations possible in the evening); So: every hour
- line 525 became the C13 (Chemnitz – Burgstädt) - Mon – Sun: every hour
- line 516 became the C15 (Chemnitz – Hainichen) - Mon – Sun: every hour
- Introduction of the new line C14 (Chemnitz – Mittweida) - Mon – Sun: every hour
From May 2017, the trains on lines C13 to C15 ran to Chemnitz Stadlerplatz, and since the timetable change in December 2017 to the new Chemnitz Technopark terminus.
However, the CityLink vehicles do not belong directly to the City-Bahn, but are the property of the VMS and are only operated by the City-Bahn on its behalf and maintained by the CVAG.
Passenger information
With the completion of the computer-aided operations control system of CVAG at the end of 2011, the vehicles on line 522 were also integrated into the system. This means that real-time information is also possible on this line. With the handover of a funding notification from the Free State of Saxony, 15 new dynamic displays could be installed between summer 2014 and January 2015 at all stops between Altchemnitz and Stollberg.
