The community of Dennheritz is located in the Saxon district of Zwickau and is part of the Crimmitschau-Dennheritz administrative community .

Geographical location
Dennheritz is located in a densely populated area on the northwestern edge of the Erzgebirge basin . The Waldhufendorf is located on the Seiferitzer Bach, a tributary of the little sea . While the Zwickauer Mulde runs east of the municipality , the regional watershed between the Zwickauer Mulde and the Pleiße is located on the western and northern edges . The nearest towns are Meerane (2 km north), Crimmitschau (3 km west), Glauchau (4 km east), Werdau (7 km south-west) and Zwickau (city center 7 km south).

Dennheritz is divided into the districts of Dennheritz, Oberschindmaas and Niederschindmaas .
history
Of the present-day districts of the Dennheritz community, Niederschindmaas was first mentioned in 1237. In 1317 there is a documentary evidence for Dennheritz under the name "Deynharcz" and in 1405 one for Oberschindmaas. In 1399 Veit von Schönburg bought goods in Oelsnitz / Erzgeb. , Mülsen and Dennheritz. At that time the place belonged to the Schönburg rule of Meerane , which was united with the Schönburg rule of Glauchau before 1493 . The Reformation was introduced in 1529 . In 1632 a plague epidemic in Dennheritz claimed 100 lives.
With regard to the manor, Dennheritz was divided among changing landlords until the 19th century. Around 1497 one part was an official village , other parts were subordinate to the manor Obermosel , the parish Meerane , the lords of Nebissen, the Voigt and the Frankenhausen monastery and the lords of Trützschler . In the 16th century, the manor over Dennheritz was divided between the lords of Trützschler and the Ruppertsgrün manor . In the 18th century, part of Dennheritz was Amtsdorf, the rest was divided between the manors Obermosel (Schönburgisch) and Gablenz (Electoral Saxon). With regard to the political administration, Dennheritz belonged partly to the Schönburg rulers ( Rule Glauchau , Amt Hinterglauchau ) and the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Zwickau until the 19th century .
In 1856 the royal Saxon part of Dennheritz was attached to the Crimmitschau court office and in 1875 to the Zwickau administration . After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of the Schönburg recession in 1878, the entire village of Dennheritz came to the newly established Glauchau administration in 1880 . The Dennheritz stop on the Glauchau-Schönbörnchen-Gößnitz railway line opened in 1858 was established on June 1, 1897. Due to insufficient passenger numbers, it was closed for the timetable change on December 11, 2011. A weaving factory with ten employees was founded in Dennheritz in 1908. However, she suffered a lot from the competition from Meerane and Crimmitschau. The section of today's federal motorway 4 north of the village was opened on June 25, 1937. At the end of the Second World War , bombs fell on the upper village on February 9, 1945. American occupation troops marched in on April 13, 1945. On June 13, 1945 they cleared the area east of the Zwickauer Mulde , which almost completely blocked traffic to Glauchau . After the American troops completely withdrew from the area on July 1, 1945, Dennheritz came to the Soviet occupation zone .
As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Dennheritz community came to the Glauchau district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Glauchau district in Saxony from 1990 onwards . In the course of the first Saxon district reform , the community of Dennheritz and its two districts came to the district of Chemnitzer Land on August 1, 1994, but not with the rest of the district of Glauchau , but to the district of Zwickauer Land , which was merged into the district of Zwickau in 2008. The Crimmitschau-Dennheritz administrative association with the neighboring town of Crimmitschau has existed since May 21, 1999 .
Incorporations
On July 1, 1950, Oberschindmaas was incorporated, followed by August 1, 1973 from Niederschindmaas.
Population development
In 1546/51 27 residents were counted, in 1598 there were 22 possessed men, 10 gardeners and 1750 35 possessed men, 5 gardeners, 10 cottagers .

Municipal council
Since the municipal council election on May 25, 2014 , the 12 seats of the municipal council have been distributed among the individual groups as follows:
- Free voters Dennheritz (FW): 9 seats
- SPD : 3 seats
mayor
Mayor Frank Taubert has been in office as successor to Bernd Voigt (2004–2009) since August 1, 2009. He was re-elected in May 2016.
Economy and Infrastructure
The community is well connected to the road network. While the federal motorway 4 runs along in the north , the districts of Dennheritz and Oberschindmaas are also located between the federal highway 175 and the four-lane federal highway 93 , which joins the latter in the Zwickau suburb of the Moselle . Dennheritz is on the Glauchau-Schönbörnchen-Gößnitz railway , which is part of the Central-Germany connection . However, the breakpoint was closed in December 2011.
