Matt LeBlanc
Matthew Steven LeBlanc (born July 25, 1967 in Newton , Massachusetts ) is an American actor and producer . He was best known for his role as Joey Tribbiani in the television series Friends and Joey .
Life
His father has ancestors from France , Denmark , England and Ireland ; his mother is Italian-American .
At the beginning of his career, LeBlanc was particularly successful with advertisements and commercials, for example for Levi's , Coca-Cola , Doritos and Heinz Ketchup . The Heinz ketchup commercial was recognized in Cannes in 1987 at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival .
In 1991 he got the lead role with Joseph Bologna in the series Top of the Heap , an offshoot of the hit series A Terribly Nice Family , in which he had already had three guest appearances. LeBlanc played Vinnie Verducci , who, together with his father, tries to make money in more or less legal ways. He uses a rather simple-minded role profile. However, Top of the Heap was discontinued after a short time, as the series could not follow the success of the terribly nice family .
In 1994 he got a leading role in the television series Friends . In this, he played for ten years the role of the handsome but not very intelligent Joey Tribbiani , the roommate of Chandler Bing ( Matthew Perry ), who struggles through life as a penniless actor.
After the end of the series, the sitcom Joey was started as an offshoot . It is considered an official sequel, as LeBlanc continued his character from the series in it. Due to poor audience ratings, the series was canceled after two seasons by NBC .
Attempts to establish themselves in the cinema have so far not been successful. The most famous film is the remake Lost in Space of the series Lost Between Alien Worlds , in which LeBlanc embodies the macho spaceship pilot Major West . The film was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in the worst remake or sequel category.
He then worked as a producer, in 2006 with The Prince and 2010 with Jonah Hex . In 2012 he received the Golden Globe Award for the sitcom Episodes , in which he plays himself .
On May 3, 2003, he married his long-time friend Melissa McKnight in Hawaii. He has a daughter with her (* 2004). The couple separated on January 1, 2006. The divorce followed on October 6, 2006. Shortly thereafter, he was in a relationship with his fellow actress Andrea Anders , who also starred in the sitcom Joey . The couple split in 2014.
On February 4, 2016, the BBC announced that LeBlanc would co-host Top Gear . Since October 2016 he can be seen as Adam Burns in the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan .
