action

The three angels are supposed to solve the kidnapping of Eric Knox. The suspicion immediately falls on his competitor Roger Corwin. He wants to acquire the Knox computer system in order to be able to trace every telephone call in the world. With the help of Bosley, the liaison between Charlie and the angels, they free Knox. To find evidence of the abduction of Knox, the three angels break into the server room of Corwin's company and look for Knox's software on the server .

However, appearances are deceptive, because Knox turns out to be the real culprit who led the angels by the nose to get to the location systems of Corwin's company. Knox wants to use this in conjunction with his own voice identification software to locate and kill Charlie. Knox believes that his father and Charlie were comrades in the Vietnam War , but Charlie betrayed his father, which led to his death. For this Knox now wants to take revenge.

The angels are able to break free from the traps Knox set for them. They find out where Knox plans to locate Charlie from. You are late. They can free Bosley, but Knox already knows Charlie's location and is on his way to Charlie's whereabouts in a helicopter armed with a missile. However, the angels manage to reprogram the missile so that it hits Knox in his own helicopter. When the angels arrive at Charlie's house, Charlie has already disappeared.

At the end of the film you can see the angels and Bosley on the beach. Charlie explains the last bit of ambiguity over an intercom as usual. The angels ask Charlie again to finally reveal himself to them, but the latter has to refuse their request on the grounds that he still has to take care of people who are important to him. Behind the angels and Bosley you can see a man watching the four people, he turns out to be Charlie. Dylan turns to the man and seems to briefly consider whether it's Charlie, but rejects the thought and has fun with her friends. The final scene consists of a shadowy Charlie walking alone along the beach.

Reviews

“Entertaining, high-speed cinema version of a US television series from the 1970s, which uses many motifs from James Bond films and Hong Kong cinema. The film relies on original scenic ideas, a concentrated, technically brilliant look and three likeable leading actresses. He clearly accentuates the self-determination of women, but also grants them vulnerability and naive zest for life in addition to the characteristics of superheroes. "

"Preparing an ancient series for the cinema is not easy - but here the requirement was correct: 3 girls look pretty and beat up bad guys - well that always goes down well, it doesn't need a great story, especially here with self-irony and funny allusions were not spared. On top of that there is also a cool soundtrack. "

“Charlie's angels in 2000 are female superheroes who are clearly superior to the faded TV models of the 70s with their colorful self-confidence: the cleavages even deeper, the make-up even more flawless and the self-irony even drier. And: These women know how to kick men in the ass. In the literal. Today the trio can even do without a plot. The story is nothing more than a perfectly choreographed number revue of satirized action hits like "Mission: Impossible", "James Bond" or "Matrix", plus a parody of "Only Saturday Night" or "Boogie Nights". Pop cinema with girl power. "

“Tempo is everything in an action film. And here you are carried away from the first second: out of a jet, with a parachute down into the depths, thrown through the air by the pressure wave of a bomb, out on a speedboat that whips over the waves. This furious beginning, reminiscent of the best James Bond times, sets the pace. This film has a good one and a half hours under control. "
