Satellite Award
The Satellite Awards are awards for special achievements in around 49 different film and media categories. They have been awarded annually by the International Press Academy (IPA) in Los Angeles since 1997 . The IPA was founded in 1996 by Mirjana van Blaricom as an offshoot of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) . A year later, the Satellite Awards were launched as a counter-event to the Golden Globes .

Until 2003, the prizes were based on the Golden Globe Award (about Golden Globe Award ) called the Golden Satellite Awards (about Golden Satellite Awards ). Since the end of 2003, the award has only been called the Satellite Awards .
The award ceremony took place in January or February until the beginning of 2005. From 2005 to 2012 this award was presented in December of that year. In 2005, the Satellite Awards were presented twice: in January the 9th Satellite Awards for the 2004 film year and in December the 10th Satellite Awards for the 2005 film year . Since 2013, the award ceremony has taken place again in February, closer to the Oscars .
In addition to the fields of film and television, awards are also given for modern media in various forms such as Blu-Ray , DVD and computer games.
Since the presentation of the Satellite Awards 2006 , the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress in the Film area and since the presentation of the Satellite Awards 2011 the categories of Best Film , Best Actor and Best Actress are no longer separated into Drama and Comedy / Musical, but listed as uniform categories.
