- In 2005, a film prize for the best literary film was announced for the first time at the Frankfurt Book Fair . The prize money was 20,000 euros for the best film. The first prize was the film Willenbrock by Andreas Dresen .
- In April 2005 the sale of the Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer together with its subsidiaries United Artists and Orion Pictures Corporation and the large film library to a consortium led by Sony Pictures Entertainment (a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America ) is announced.
