June Haver (born June 10, 1926 in Rock Island , Illinois , as Beverly June Stovenour , † July 4, 2005 in Brentwood , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Haver started singing on stage at the age of six and was a singer in a band during her teens. 20th Century Fox hired her in 1943 . In 1945 she played her first leading role as Cri-Cri in the film drama At Home in Indiana . In the same year she starred with Fred MacMurray in the film Where Do We Go From Here? , this was the only time the couple acted in a movie together.

Despite trying to make Haver into the next Betty Grable , her acting career was short. She met MacMurray again in 1953 and a romantic relationship developed. They married on June 28, 1954 , and Haver gradually withdrew from show business. The last time she appeared in 1959 in The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour on. The couple adopted two daughters and stayed together until MacMurray's death in 1991 . At the urging of her friends Ann Miller and Ann Rutherford , Haver joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the age of 75 . Haver died of lung failure, leaving two stepchildren, two adopted children and seven grandchildren. She was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City , California .

June Haver has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1777 Vine Street).
