Matthew McGrory

Matthew McGrory (born May 17, 1973 in West Chester , Pennsylvania , † August 9, 2005 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor who was known for his extreme height .

Matthew McGrory was born in 1973 as an above-average child. He was 7.5 kg and measured 61 cm. As an adult, his height was 2.29 meters, with a shoe size of 29 ½ (US) and 69 (EU). The latter secured him an entry in the Guinness Book of Records . Prior to his film career, McGrory studied law at Widener University in Chester .

Due to his extreme size, he often took on the role of the giant, for example in Tim Burton's fairy tale film Big Fish , in Bubble Boy and in the horror film House of 1000 Corpses and its sequel The Devil's Rejects . He also took on this role in various television series , including Malcolm in the middle , Charmed and Carnivàle . McGrory had other important appearances on Howard Stern's radio show, as Alien in Men in Black II and in the music video of the song Coma White by the rock band Marilyn Manson . Until his death, he played the role of wrestler André the Giant ( André Rousimoff ) in Andre: Heart of the Giant .

On August 9, 2005, Matthew McGrory died of heart failure at the age of 32.
