1697: Stockholm Castle burns
  • 1697 : The royal Tre Kronor Castle in Stockholm is destroyed by fire that almost completely destroys the structure.
  • 1849 : Large parts of St. Louis , Missouri, are destroyed by a major fire. Three people are killed, 430 buildings and numerous Mississippi steamers are killed in the fire.
