Nikolaus Utermöhlen
Nikolaus Utermöhlen (born June 10, 1958 in Würzburg , † May 17, 1996 in Berlin ) was a German musician and artist.
Life
With Wolfgang Müller in 1980 he was a founding member of the band Die Tödliche Doris . Utermöhlen was a member of the group until it split up in 1987, played bass guitar, clarinet and boatman's piano, experimented with tapes, defective cassette recorders and prepared instruments. After the group broke up, Utermöhlen turned to painting and composed film music for films by Heinz Emigholz and others. He died at the age of almost 38 from the effects of an HIV infection.
A solo exhibition called a retrospective by the curators took place three years after his death in the Haus am Kleistpark . This only showed Utermöhlen's paintings from the last eight years of his life. His collage The Powerless Model No. 4 (red ball) comes from this time .
