Ota Hofman
Ota Hofman, also Ota Dvorský ( pseudonym ) (born April 10, 1928 in Prague ; † May 17, 1989 ibid), was one of the most famous Czech writers of children's and youth literature of the second half of the 20th century and screenwriter .
Life
Hofman grew up in Kostelní Lhota, Czech Republic, and attended school there. He then attended a secondary school and, after graduating from high school in 1948, began studying law at the commercial academy. In 1949 he enrolled at the Prague Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts , where he studied dramaturgy and scenario writing until 1953.
From 1955 Ota Hofman was dramaturge for children's films at the Barrandov film studios . His most famous character was Pan Tau , who he created together with director Jindřich Polák . Many of his other characters and series were also popular with children in the 1970s and 1980s, such as: B. Luzie, the horror of the street . The mostly fantastic stories were shown in Czechoslovakia as well as in the GDR and the FRG and were often co-productions between the broadcasters in the respective countries. In 1982 Hofman became director of scenario at the Barrandov film studios.
Other television series Hofman developed and wrote were The Visitors and The Road to Atlantis . He also wrote scripts for fairy tale films such as Odysseus and the Stars .
