Kostelní Lhota (German Kostelni Lhota , 1939–45 Kirchenlhota ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers west of Poděbrady and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .
geography
Kostelní Lhota is located between the Šembera and Výrovka rivers and the Elbe on the Bohemian Table. The D11 / Europastraße 67 motorway passes to the south . In the west the railway runs from Prague to Nymburk .
Neighboring towns are Hořátev in the north, Polabec in the northeast, Písková Lhota in the east, Vrbová Lhota in the southeast, Pečky and Velké Chvalovice in the south, Milčice and Kačín in the southwest, Třebestovice and Sadská in the west and Zvěřínek in the northwest.
history
After Boček I. von Poděbrady had acquired the Poděbrady rule through marriage in 1351 , he began to settle the impassable marshland on the Výrovka . In 1354 he founded the settlement Lhota and had a church built.
After the abolition of patrimonial Kostelní Lhota formed a municipality in the Poděbrady district from 1850 . In 1876 the church was renovated. On March 2 and 3, 1912, Archduke Karl and his wife Zita stayed as guests of Pastor František Wolf on their trip to the Stará Boleslav garrison . In 1942 the new local school was built. Since 1961 the community belongs to Okres Nymburk.

In the community lived and worked:
- Ota Hofman (1928–1989): The screenwriter grew up in Kostelní Lhota and attended school there. He was very involved in the village; with his support the local volleyball club was re-established.
