history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Podebrady rule was in 1345, when Hynek von Lichtenburg received the Podebrady Castle as a fief . Kouty was in an elevated position over an extensive breakland. Around 1450, Georg von Podiebrad had the Sánský kanál built south of the village behind the manorial pheasantry , which was used to irrigate the Podebrady fishponds. After Georg von Podiebrad had visited the Neumühle founded by him via Kouty in 1461, he found the Blatnice hollow on the way back to be suitable for the damming of a large pond. His son Heinrich von Münsterberg had the plans implemented in 1474 and a small dam was built north of Kouty, which turned the rift area into a huge pond with 996 hectares of water. The one-layer Shabata lay directly on the dam .
At the end of the 18th century, the largest Bohemian fish pond was drained. During the Napoleonic Wars, Napoleon Bonaparte and his troops stayed at the Schabata Inn at the end of 1813. The important French stenographer Jean Coulon de Thévenot died on December 30, 1813 in Schabata. He was buried in Úmyslovice.
After the abolition of patrimonial Kouty formed with the district Šabata from 1850 a municipality in the Poděbrady district . On January 1, 1961, the community came to Okres Nymburk. At the beginning of 1980 Kouty was incorporated into Úmyslovice , since 1990 the community has existed again.
