history
Hradčany was founded on a medieval fortress that was destroyed by the troops of Emperor Sigismund during the Hussite Wars . In place of the fortress, there was a keeper's house called Račany .
Later a village was laid out in the corridors of the village Mastnice, which burned down and died out in 1436, south of the road over the Black Mile. The exact date of foundation is not known, it is likely that Raczan was created after 1776 in the course of the Raabization . The corridors were divided between 30 to 40 families. The village is first documented since 1777. In 1820 Raczan consisted of 30 houses. The Nová Báň settlement was founded a little later than Raczan .
After the abolition of patrimonial Račany formed from 1850 a district of the Hermannsdorf community in the Poděbrady district . In 1878 the Račany commune was established . In 1890 the village consisted of 75 houses and had 443 inhabitants. In 1919 the Račany municipality was renamed Hradčany . In 1949 Nová Báň, which had previously belonged to Žehuň , was incorporated into Hradčany. Both localities have grown together today. Since January 1st, 1961 the parish has belonged to Okres Nymburk.
