Vrbice was first mentioned in writing in 1305 when Wenceslaus II left two parts of the village to the Prague Chapter. During the Hussite Wars, the village came to secular owners and became part of the Poděbrady estate , to which it belonged until 1848. In 1547 a Schulze was installed in Podmoky, whose district also included Vrbice and Opočnice. During the Thirty Years War, Vrbice was sacked and devastated in 1620. In 1631, after the withdrawal of the Electoral Saxon troops, the imperial army invaded Vrbice, on August 7, 1634 the Electoral Saxons devastated the area and burned Vrbice, Činěves , Opočnice and Podmoky. After that the village lay desolate for 40 years.
In 1732 Vrbice had 180 inhabitants. In 1787 a school was established in Vrbice, the district of which also included the villages of Podmoky, Senice, Srbce, Okřínek and Vlkov . In 1826 359 people lived in the 52 houses in the village. After the abolition of patrimonial Vrbice formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Podmoky in the district Poděbrady . In 1864 the political municipality Vrbice was established. On September 11, 1887, a great fire broke out in the village. From estate no. 13, the flames spread uphill along the Angers and also hit the wooden village church. A new stone building was then built.
In 1901 Vrbice consisted of 108 houses and 592 inhabitants. On January 1, 1961, the community came to Okres Nymburk. In 1969 the fruit trees on the village green were cut down and in 1972 the scales were torn down and a park was created. After the end of the school year 1974/75 the school was closed and the children were retrained to Městec Králové, Poděbrady and Opočnice. Between 1980 and 1991 Vrbice was incorporated into Opočnice .
