history

The first documentary mention of Chotěšice took place in 1199 when Ottokar I. Přemysl confirmed to the brothers from God's grave that the village had been obtained from a donation from Hugo von Čelčice. In 1375 the brothers leased the village to Albrecht von Waldstein . From 1408 Zdeněk von Chotěšice was the owner of the village. He sold the goods to Aldik von Radostov two years later. From the 16th century on, Chotěšice belonged to the Bohemian manors and there was a fortress above the manor.

In 1527 Ladislav Ostrovecký von Kralovice sold the village, which he had inherited, to Wenzel Haugwitz von Biskupitz on Kopidlno and Záhornice . His son Heinrich Haugwitz von Biskupitz auf Nepokojnice sold Chotěšice to Siegmund Engel von Ronov . His youngest daughter Katharina was married to Johann the Younger von Waldstein and brought the inheritance as a dowry. Heník von Waldstein sold the village to Nikol von Gersdorff and Malschwitz in 1617 . Two years later he bequeathed the property to his wife and five sons. After the Battle of White Mountain , the properties of the Protestant Gerdorffers were confiscated and Chotěšice was initially added to the royal estates. On the recommendation of Charles of Liechtenstein , Chotěšice was pledged together with Smiřice in 1621 to Johann Eusebius Khan von Belazy. The following year, the Chamber sold the village to Maria Magdalena Trčková, née Lobkowicz. The village and Kopidlno exchanged these in the same year with the owner of the Dymokury estate , Albrecht von Waldstein, for Žiželice , Sadová and Rozběřice . Until the abolition of patrimonial Chotěšice remained with Dymokury.

In 1854 a village school was built. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1882. After the replacement of patrimonial Chotěšice became an independent municipality in the Poděbrady district and came to Okres Nymburk in 1961. Also at the beginning of 1961, Břístev, Malá Strana and Nová Ves were incorporated. In 1980 Nouzov was incorporated with Malý Nouzov.
