geography
Sadová is located on the right side of the Bystřice River at the transition from the Horschitzer Uplands to the East Bohemian Table. The hill Bukvice (312 m) rises to the northeast, the Rozkoš (285 m) to the north, the Svíb ( Swiep , 330 m) to the east and the Chlum (337 m) to the southeast.
Neighboring towns are Horní Černůtky and Sovětice in the north, Benátky in the northeast, Máslojedy and Čistěves in the east, Lípa and Horní Dohalice in the southeast, Dohalice in the south, Kopaniny, Zavadilka and Stračovská Lhota in the southwest, Mžany in the west and Dub and Klenice in the northwest.
history
Sadová was first mentioned in 1241 and was the seat of a manor. In 1636 Johann Matthias Gallas bought the property together with the Smiřice manor . Sadová later went to the Counts Schaffgotsch , who managed several newly acquired villages from Sadová at the beginning of the 18th century. A baroque chateau with a large park on the Bystřice was built in Sadová. In 1744 the castle burned down and was demolished. The seat of the Sadowa reign became the Hrádek Castle .
The Battle of Königgrätz in the German War between Prussian and Austrian troops took place east of the town on July 3, 1866 . This battle is mainly called the Battle of Sadowa ( Bataille de Sadowa ) in the French-speaking area . Although or precisely because France was not involved in the war, in which Prussia quickly won before France could intervene, the call for revenge for Sadowa was loud there.
In 1882 the Smiřice beet railway started operating. Until the 20th century Sadová was an insignificant settlement that always belonged to Sowietitz . After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the estate was divided up and settlement houses for farm workers were built.
The goods were owned by Count Harrach until 1945 . In 1947 the brewery was shut down. In 1990 the Sadová community was established. In 2004 the place had 127 houses and 325 inhabitants.
