Ohnišťany (German Wochnischtian , also Wohnistan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers north of Nový Bydžov and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .
geography
Ohnišťany is on the left side of the Ohnišťanský creek on the East Bohemian Table. To the east rises the Hořeník (271 m) and in the north-west the Horka (278 m). The Velký Osek – Trutnov railway runs to the east .
Neighboring towns are Obora in the north, Tereziny Dary in the northeast, Lískovice , Sukorady and Kouty in the east, Šaplava in the southeast, Podlesí, Paška and Loučná Hora in the south, Chotělice in the southwest, Vysoké Veselí and Staré Smrkovice in the west and Nevratice and Chomutice in the northwest.
history
Ohnišťany was first mentioned in a document in 1318. Another settlement was later built north of the old village with the church.
After the abolition of patrimonial in 1850, the two communities Staré Ohnišťany and Nové Ohnišťany in the Nový Bydžov district . In 1921 both villages were united to form the municipality of Ohnišťany. Since 1961 Ohnišany belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové.
