Smidary (German Smidar ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers north of Nový Bydžov and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .
geography
Smidary is to the right of the Cidlina and Javorka on the East Bohemian Table. To the north rises the Sychrov (265 m), northwest of the Kamenec (266 m) and to the west the Homolka (286 m). The Velký Osek – Trutnov railway runs along the Javorka, and the Smidary station is located a good kilometer east of the village. Smidaray is the intersection of the state road 280 between Kopidlno and Hořice with the 327 from Nový Bydžov to Podhorní Újezd a Vojice .
Neighboring towns are Chotělice in the north, Ohnišťany and Loučná Hora in the northeast, Myštěves in the east, Stihňov in the southeast, Červeněves, Ovčín and Křičov in the south, Smidarská Lhota in the southwest, Vinary in the west and Hrobičany in the northwest.
history
The first documentary mention of Smidary was in 1332. During the Hussite Wars , the village was burned down in 1424 by Jan Žižka . In 1558 Zdislava von Wartenberg sold the Smidary fortress including the village in the parish church to Christoph Sylwar von Silberstein . He had the water festival on the Cidlina renewed. In 1562 Emperor Ferdinand I elevated Smidary to the status of a media town and gave the place a coat of arms. After the Wartenbergers follow as owners u. a. Magdalena Trčka von Lobkowicz , Albrecht von Waldstein and, after his murder, the Counts of Colloredo up to 1851 .
After the abolition of patrimonial Smidary formed a market town in the Nový Bydžov district from 1850 . In 1870 the opened Austrian Northwestern Railway , the main railway United Wossek - Trutnov . From 1882 Smidary was the starting point of the local railway to Hochwessely (Vysoké Veselí) . In 1891 the Czjzek von Smidaich acquired the goods. In 1910 Smidar was promoted to town and had 1934 residents.
In 1948 Smidary's town charter was not renewed. Since 1961 Smidary belongs to Okres Hradec Králové. In the same year Červeněves, Loučná Hora and Křičov were incorporated. 1980 Chotělice was added. The Smidary – Vysoké Veselý railway was closed in 1976.
Community structure
The municipality Smidary consists of the districts Červeněves ( Rothendorf ), Chotělice ( Chotielitz ), Křičov ( Kritschow ), Loučná Hora ( meadow mountain ) and Smidary ( Smidar ) as well as the settlement Ovčín ( sheepfold ).
The village of Medříč, which has been deserted since 1496, is 500 m southeast of Smidary.
