history
The first written mention of Barchův dvůr took place in 1398. The name of the place is derived from the name Barech. At the beginning of the 15th century there were two festivals in Barchov, which were owned by the Knights of Barchov. In 1412 Nikolaus von Barchov donated the chapel of Maria Magdalena at Prague Castle . In 1421 Nikolaus von Barchov was a delegate of the assembly of estates in Čáslav for the coronation of Sigismund with the Wenceslas crown . After the Knights of Barchov had also acquired Dašice , the family called themselves Dašický von Barchov. In the 16th century the Dobřenský von Dobřenice became the owners of Barchov. After 1600 Burian Slibovický from Skřivany bought the goods, followed in 1611 by Albrecht Bzenský from Poruba. From 1675 Ferdinand Raschin von Riesenburg was the owner of Barchov. When he sold the goods in 1702, the second festival had expired. In the 18th century the owners changed in quick succession. Among them were Marie Elisabeth Schaffgotsch - Waldstein , Marie Magdalena Rohrich von Kleinberg, Anna Barbara von Malovec and Norbert Christoph Woracziczky von Pabienitz . In 1737 he had the fortress transformed into a baroque palace. After that, Velký Barchov belonged to Count Kolowrat -Libštejnský. The Lords of Vlkanov followed as owners. During the peasant uprising of 1777, the rebels plundered the castle in revenge on the owner Josef Bartholomäus von Vlkanov and his extortionate administrator Reichenbach and set it on fire. Subsequently, Barchov belonged to the Prague Invalids As well as Counts Kinský and Czernin von Chudenitz and finally Václav Teuchert. Territorially, the village belonged to the East Bohemian Bidschower district.
After the abolition of patrimonial Velký Barchov formed a municipality in the Nový Bydžov district from 1850. In 1898 the manorial castle brewery was shut down. From 1911 the castle and the associated goods belonged to the Prague Floor Bank ( Pozemková Banka ). The village has been called Barchov since 1919. In 1916, a windpipe caused destruction in Barchov. In the same year a major fire broke out that left parts of the village to rubble and ashes. In 1924 the Picky family bought the property from the bankruptcy estate of the collapsed Pozemková banka. In 1931 the place was connected to the electricity network.
After the Second World War, the Picky family was expropriated in 1948 and the castle became part of the administration of the Czechoslovak state property. In the 1950s, the watercourses in the place were regulated and five ponds were created. Barchov has belonged to Okres Hradec Králové since January 1st, 1961. After the transfer back to the Picky family, the castle served as a speculative property. The discotheque is well known in the region and its events take place every Friday from September to May.
