history
The first written mention of the market village of Butsou or Buitsov , which belongs to the Order of St. John, can be found in a document from Duke Friedrich dated April 23, 1186. The festival located in the village formed the administrative center for the surrounding region. Around 1290 Bydschow was raised to the city.
The lack of water on the hill led to the establishment of the new town of Nový Bydžov in 1305 , to which the town charter was transferred from Bydžov. Subsequently, the administration for the Bydschower Land was also relocated to Neu Bydschow Castle. The old Bydschow sank down to the village and was henceforth called Old Bydschow. It belonged to the Bydschow rule until 1549 and was then sold to the Lords of Pernstein . Later the owners changed frequently and during the Thirty Years War Albrecht von Waldstein bought the village in 1630. He was murdered in 1634 and Johann Freiherr von Cordon became the new owner of Alt Bydschow. In 1651 Rudolf Hieronymus Eusebius from Colloredo-Waldsee bought the goods. As a result of the war, the village was largely desolate, in 1654 in the berní rula only 4 working farms and 16 chalets are reported for the place. In 1834 Rosina von Colloredo sold Alt Bydschow to Martin Waagner. In 1843 the village consisted of 84 houses and had 596 inhabitants.
After the abolition of patrimonial Starý Bydžov / Alt Bidschow formed a municipality in the Nový Bydžov district from 1850 . In 1910, Starý Bydžov had the highest population in its history with 959 inhabitants. Since 1961 the municipality belongs to Okres Hradec Králové. The timbered old village smithy of Starý Bydžov from 1774 was in the 1976 open-air museum of Kouřim implemented. Between 1980 and 1990 Starý Bydžov was incorporated into Nový Bydžov.
