history
The first written mention of a fortress took place in 1386. Until the 16th century, Písek was part of various lords. Wilhelm II of Pernstein had three large fish ponds fed with water from the Bystřice around Písek. The Piseker pond and the Groß Kositzer pond were created to the north, and the Chlumetzer pond was to the west.
The Vorwerkshof Horka was named after its owner Octavian Joseph Graf Kinsky as Oktaviánov since the 19th century . Octavian Graf Kinsky began breeding horses in the Wostrow farm west of Písek in the first half of the 19th century. In 1838 the breeding of Kinsky horses began at the Wostrow stud .
After the abolition of patrimonial rule , the political municipality Písek with the district Horka in the Nový Bydžov district was established in 1850 . Between the 19th and 20th centuries the ponds were drained and later the Bystřice was straightened and relocated.
On January 1, 1961, Písek came to Okres Hradec Králové. A gravel deposit is being excavated east of the village; four gravel pits are operated there. The Ostrov stud, which is again owned by the Kinský family, is the only breeding site for Kinsky horses.
