The Bystřice (German Bistritz ) is a left tributary of the Cidlina in the Czech Republic .
It rises in 481 m. ü. M. in the Giant Mountains foothills east of the town of Pecka between the villages Horní Brusnice (Oberprausnitz) and Vidonice (Widentsch).
On its way to the south, the water flows not far from the village of Kal (Kall) over a length of approx. 4 km through the Kalské údolí valley . The typical foothills landscape has been under state protection as a natural monument on 25 hectares since 1990 . Another natural monument is located a few hundred meters downstream at the 462 m high Homolka .
Along the course of the river follow the places Vidoň as well as Miletínek and Miletín , between which the nature reserve Miletínská bažantnice is located to the right of the river .
This is followed by Rohoznice and the mouth of the Bubnovka. This is followed by a valley between the towns of Doubrava and Hořice . The natural meanders and wet meadows of this valley were also placed under protection in 1990 as a natural monument Údolí Bystřice on 17 hectares. To the north there is another natural monument, the 3 hectare forest meadow Farářova louka .
Nearby places of Bystřice, whose term runs from here to the mouth by a flat landscape with many small towns are Březovice, Jeřice , Dolní Černůtky, Třebovětice, Cerekvice nad Bystřicí , Hněvčeves , Sovětice , Sadova , Dohalice , Mokrovousy , Třesovice , Popovice , Sobětuš, Lubno, Komárov, Nechanice , Kunčice , Boharyně , Homyle and Puchlovice . The old river bed runs as Mlýnská Bystřice westwards to the Cidlina, while the main course of the river was laid dead straight to the southwest, where it between Chlumec nad Cidlinou and Kladruby after 63 km at 214 m. ü. M. flows into the Cidlina . Its catchment area is 379 km².
