history
Archaeological finds show that the place was settled in the Neolithic and Bronze Ages . A festival was established in the 13th century. The place Jeřice was first mentioned in 1369 as the seat of the Vladiken Mrzák and Zdeňko von Jeřice. The lords of Jeřice owned the place for about 200 years. In 1384 a pleban was installed in the church .
After Johann and Maria Magdalena von Hildprandt acquired the Jeřice estate in 1665, they had the fortress converted into a representative four-winged castle. In 1748 Johann Daniel von Gastheim and Maria Theresia, née von Paar, became the owners of Jeřice. After Gastheim's death, his nephew Johann Wenzel von Paar inherited the property. He had the palace rebuilt in baroque style.
After the abolition of patrimonial Velké Jeřice formed a municipality in the Hradec Králové district from 1850. During the German War , Velké Jeřice was on the edge of the battlefield of the Battle of Königgrätz in 1866 . In 1874 Karl Freiherr von Gagern bought the castle and the associated large estates. In 1886 the castle burned down and was rebuilt. It was furnished in the neo-renaissance style. In 1887 the industrialist Josef Haney from Rokytnice bought the castle.
From 1900 the municipality of Velké Jeřice belonged to the Nová Paka district and came to Okres Hořice in the 1930s and to Okres Jičín in 1961. In 1921 the name Velký was deleted from the municipality name . In 1924 Josef Voženílk von Předměřice became the owner of the chateau.
