Ohaveč (German Wohawetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers west of Jičín and belongs to the Okres Jičín .
geography
Ohaveč is located in the valley of the Porák brook between the Velišský hřbet ridge and the Prachau rocks in the Jičínská pahorkatina mountains . To the south of the village are the Ostruženský rybník and Turecká ponds . State road 16 runs through Ohaveč from Jičín to Mladá Boleslav .
Neighboring towns are Prachov the north, Holín in the Northeast, Hurychovna, Jičín -Holínské Předměstí, Jičín-Pražské Předměstí and Březinka the southeast, Březina in the south, Hlásná Lhota U Rybníka the west and Ostružno in the southwest, Dolní Lochov the west and Horní Lochov in Northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1327 under the name "Vohavec".
After the abolition of patrimonial Vohavec formed a municipality in the Jičín district from 1850. In 1866 the village was on the battlefield of the Battle of Gitschin . In 1900 the place was given the current name Ohaveč. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 Ohaveč was incorporated into Holín on January 1, 1961. The village of Ohaveč has existed again since November 24, 1990.
