After the abolition of patrimonial Březina formed with the district Hlásná Lhota from 1850 a municipality in the Jičín district. Between 1878 and 1889 the community had a second part of Na Karlově (today U Rybníka), which was then attached to Hlásná Lhota. In 1930 Hlásná Lhota broke up with Na Karlově and formed their own community.
In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, Březina was incorporated into Hlásná Lhota on January 1, 1961, and on July 1, 1987, together with Hlásná Lhota, it became a district of Podhradí. The village of Březina has existed again since November 24, 1990.
