history

The village was first mentioned in 1318 under the name Bašněves as the seat of Vladiken Petr von Bašněves. At the end of the 14th century Jan Kule von Bašněves was the owner of the village, later the Uzík family from Bašněves. During the Hussite Wars , the Battle of Horschitz took place northeast of the village in April 1423 . Two outbuildings belonged to the place, one of which has been handed down as the location of a fortress since 1499. This was documented for the first time in the course of the sale of the Bašněves manor, which included several surrounding villages, by Václav and Markvart Uzík to Jan Krupý von Probluz. 1521 acquired Vojtěch von Pernstein (1490-1534) Bašnice and connected the goods to his rule Chlumec nad Cidlinou . The fortress, which thus lost its function as the seat of the landed aristocracy, was given up and described as desolate since 1542. In 1542 Zikmund Smiřický von Smiřice bought the place and gave it to the Hořice manor .

After the abolition of patrimonial Bašnice was from 1850 a municipality in the Hradec Králové district. From 1900 the village belonged to the Okres Nová Paka and since the 1930s to the Okres Hořice. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, it was assigned to the Okres Jičín on January 1, 1961.
