Ostružno (German Wostruschno , 1939–45: Wostruschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers west of Jičín and belongs to the Okres Jičín .
geography
Ostružno is located between the Malý Porák and Velký Porák brooks in the west of the Jičínská kotlina ( Gitschiner Basin ). To the north is the Prachovské skály rocky area in the Český ráj nature reserve, and to the south is the Velišský hřbet ridge . The Svatá Anna ( St. Anna-Berg , 356 m) and the Houser (388 m) rise to the northwest . To the east is the Ostruženský rybník pond, to the south of the Lhotský rybník and to the west the Vyplatil and Jíkavec ponds.
Neighboring towns are Dolní Lochov and Horní Lochov in the north, Prachov and Ohaveč in the northeast, Hurychovna and Jičín in the east, Březina , Vokšice and Hlásná Lhota in the southeast, U Rybníka, Na Karlově and Křelina in the south, Pazderna, Nadslav, Štidla and Netolice in the south-west , U Svaté Trojice, Příchvoj and Zajakury in the west and Samšina , Ohařice and U Kavárny in the north-west.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1227. A church has been documented in Ostružno since 1355. Between 1772 and 1780 the two-towered new church was built in place of the old church in the village square.
After the abolition of patrimonial Ostružno or Wostružno formed a municipality in the judicial district of Jičin from 1850. During the Battle of Gitschin on June 29, 1866, the kk infantry regiment No. 73 at Ostružno launched an attack on the Prussian bypass column under the command of Major General von Januschowsky. From 1868 the village belonged to the Jičin District . On July 1, 1985 Ostružno was incorporated into Podhradí . Ostružno has existed again since November 24, 1990. The former school is now used as a kindergarten.

Attractions
- Baroque Church of St. Elevation of the cross, erected 1772–1780 according to plans by the builder František Heger. It was consecrated on July 17, 1797. The church was restored in 1904 and 1993. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918, the Masaryklinde, the Liberty Linden and the Legionary Linden were planted in front of the church. On the churchyard wall a memorial plaque commemorates Georg Philipp Freiherr von Mumme, who was fatally wounded in 1866 at the age of 28 as first lieutenant of the kuk Bohemian infantry regiment "Albrecht von Württemberg" No. 73 near Ostružno and is buried in the military cemetery in Kbelnice; the coat of arms of those of Mumme attached to it is upside down, since the family died out with his death.
- Baroque statues of hll. Nikolaus (1749) and Anthelm (1754), in front of the church. They were created for the Carthusian monastery Karthaus and after its abolition came to Ostružno.
- Baroque rectory, built in 1756.
- Statue of the Immaculate, created in 1877.
- Crucifixion statue on the outskirts, it dates from 1874.
- Chapel of St. Anna on the Svatá Anna hill, built in 1670.
- Chapel of St. Trinity in U Svaté Trojice, built in 1720 according to plans by Johann Blasius Santini-Aichl . The bathhouse next to it and the Schlik's hunting lodge were later converted into a hunter's house.
- Rybník Jíkavec natural monument, the 7.31 hectare wet meadow area around the Jíkavec and U Svaté Trojice ponds has been protected since 1998.
- Ostruženské rybníky natural monument, it includes the wetland around the ponds Ostruženský rybník, Čeperka and Turecká with an area of 67.9 ha. It was also placed under protection in 1998. The Ostruženský rybník is the largest pond in the region.
- Svatá Anna natural monument, the basalt dome has been protected since 1990.
