Jičin district

The Jičin District ( Okresní hejtmanství Jičín in Czech ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in northern Bohemia in today's Královéhradecký kraj ( Okres Jičín ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Jičin ( Jičín ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Jičin District was formed in 1868 from the Jičin ( Czech soudní okres Jičín ), Liban ( Libáň ), Sobotka ( Sobotka ) and Neupaka ( Nová Paka ) judicial districts .

On October 1, 1903, the Neupaka judicial district was separated from the Jičin district. He then formed the new Neupaka district together with the Hořitz ( Hořice ).

The Jičin District was home to 100,014 people in 1869, with the district covering an area of ​​14.3 square miles and 157 parishes.

In 1900 the district was home to 69,843 people who lived on an area of ​​620.93 km² or in 133 communities.

The Jičin District covered an area of ​​620.95 km² in 1910 and a population of 69,166 people. In 1910, 545 of the inhabitants had given German and 68,476 Czech as their colloquial language. There were also 145 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. In 1910 the district consisted of three judicial districts with a total of 135 communities and 138 cadastral communities.
