Leitomischl district

The Litomyšl District ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Litomyšl ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Eastern Bohemia in today's Pardubický kraj ( Okres Svitavy ). Seat of the district administration was the city Litomyšl (Litomyšl). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Leitomischl was formed in 1868 from the court district of the same name Leitomischl ( Czech soudní okres Litomyšl ).

In the Leitomischl district lived 50,887 people in 1869, with the district encompassing an area of ​​8.5 square miles and 44 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 50,814 people who lived in an area of ​​491.87 km² or in 58 communities.

The Leitomischl district covered an area of ​​491.86 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 50,775 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 36,014 stated Czech and 14,699 German as their colloquial language. There were also 62 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. The district consisted of a judicial district with 59 communities and 63 cadastral communities.
