Pardubice district

The Pardubice District ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Pardubice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Eastern Bohemia in what is now Pardubický kraj ( Okres Pardubice ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Pardubice (Pardubice). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Pardubice district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Holitz (Czech: soudní okres Holice ), Přelauč ( Přelouč ) and Pardubice ( Pardubice ).

The Pardubice district lived 74,813 people in 1869, the district comprising an area of ​​14.2 square miles and 124 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 92,390 people who lived in an area of ​​785.84 km² or in 135 communities.

The Pardubice district covered an area of ​​785.87 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 102,055 people. In 1910, 100,996 of the inhabitants stated Czech and 751 German as their colloquial language. There were also 308 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 140 communities and 156 cadastral communities.
