Smichow district

The district of Smichow ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Smíchov ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Central Bohemia in what is now the south of Prague . The seat of the district administration was the city of Smichov ( Smíchov ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Smichow was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Smichow ( Czech soudní okres Smíchov ), Unhošt ( Unhošť ) and Königsaal ( Zbraslav ).

In 1877 the establishment of the Kladno judicial district was determined in the Smichow district , which was formed from seven municipalities of the Unhošt judicial district and whose establishment became officially effective on May 1, 1878.

On October 1, 1893, the judicial districts of Kladno and Unhošt were split off, which subsequently together formed the district of Kladno.

The Smichow District lived in 109,263 people in 1869, with the district covering an area of ​​13.7 square miles and 115 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 140,514 people who lived in an area of ​​489.26 km² or in 86 communities.

The Smichow district covered an area of ​​489.24 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 167,830 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 161,403 stated Czech and 5,310 German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, there were 1117 people who spoke other languages ​​or who were foreign to the state in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 89 communities and 101 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
